Only 7 -year -old chess player Vaka Lakshmi Pragnika of Gujarat has created history. Lakshmi has won the title of World Chess Champion in the Under-7 Girls category at FIDE World School Chess Championship-2025 held at Vranjaka Banja, Serbia. Surat’s first -class student achieved tremendous success in the chess world, winning all nine rounds and won the title with nine points.
Tireless efforts of parents got success
Prajnika’s father Vaka Ramnath said, “I have settled in Surat since 2000.” My elder daughter Varenya plays chess and seeing her, Chhoti Pragyika also started taking interest in chess. He started playing chess a year and a half ago. Prajnika has been the state champion three times in fifteen months and this year alone she finished third in the girls category in the National School Chess Championship Under-7 held in Andhra Pradesh. After this, he was selected in the Indian team.
Success in many chess tournaments in the last one year
Born in Surat in 2018, SD Jain studies in the first grade at the Modern School in Vasu, Surat. Both Pregnancy and Varenya fall under the Non-Residential Excellence Center of the Gujarat Sports Authority and the officials of the Gujarat State Chess Association including Bhavesh Patel played an important role in improving their talent. His current coach is Rohan Julka. The pregnancy is the only player from Gujarat with a 1450 ELO rating in the under-6 category in the chess classical format. Along with Pugnika, his 11 -year -old elder sister Varenya also participated in the FIDE World School Championship in his category.
