Supreme Court Releases Judges’ Assets On Official Website: What CJI Sanjiv Khanna & Others Own – DETAILS | (Photo Courtesy: X)
In a step towards enhancing accountability, 21 of the 33 sitting judges of the Supreme Court made their asset declarations public on Monday, May 5. The disclosures, now available on the court’s official website, follow an April 1 decision by the Full Court to publish judges’ asset statements in light of recent corruption allegations surrounding Justice Yashwant Varma.
The Apex Court has confirmed that disclosures from the remaining 12 judges will be uploaded as and when they are received.
1. Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Chief Justice of India

Justice Sanjiv Khanna, the Chief Justice of India owns a three-bedroom DDA flat in South Delhi, a four-bedroom apartment with two parking spaces in the Commonwealth Games Village, Delhi (2446 sq ft), and a 56% share in a four-bedroom apartment in Sispal Vihar, Gurugram (2016 sq ft), co-owned with his daughter.
Additionally, he holds a share in an ancestral property at Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh, listed under the Dev Raj Khanna HUF. These properties were either inherited, purchased using inherited funds, or jointly acquired with family members. His financial assets include fixed deposits and bank accounts totaling approximately Rs 55.75 lakh, a PPF account with about Rs 1.06 crore (opened in 1989), a GPF account with Rs 1.77 crore, an LIC policy with an annual premium of Rs 29,625, and shares valued at RS 14,000. Justice Khanna has been an income tax assessee since 1978–79. His movable assets include 250 grams of gold, 2 kilograms of silver (mostly inherited or gifted), and a 2015 Maruti Swift car.
His spouse holds additional assets including fixed deposits and bank accounts worth Rs 23.87 lakh, a PPF account with Rs 64.51 lakh (opened in 1991), shares and mutual funds valued at Rs 1.39 crore, 700 grams of gold, 5 kilograms of silver, a few diamond pieces, and pearl and ruby jewellery. Neither Justice Khanna nor his spouse has any liabilities.
2. Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai

Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai has declared ownership of several immovable properties, including a residential house and agricultural land in Amravati, Maharashtra (inherited from his late father), as well as a residential apartment in Bandra, Mumbai, another in Defence Colony, New Delhi, and agricultural land in Kedapur, Katol (Nagpur) and Amravati, Maharashtra (self-owned).
His financial investments comprise shares and mutual funds, including a Rs 1,000 share in the Nyay Sagar Co-op Society, other investments worth Rs 31,315, a PPF of Rs 6.59 lakh, and a GPF of Rs 35.86 lakh. Movable assets include gold ornaments and jewellery valued at Rs 5.26 lakh, cash of Rs 61,320, bank balances totaling Rs 19.63 lakh, and other advances worth Rs 54.87 lakh. His spouse holds gold ornaments worth Rs 29.70 lakh (including 750 grams of streedhan). Declared liabilities include a Rs 7 lakh security deposit for the Mumbai flat, Rs 17.32 lakh as advance rent for the Delhi flat, and Rs 1.07 crore under Bhushan Gavai (HUF).
3. Justice Surya Kant

Justice Surya Kant has declared ownership of several immovable properties, mostly held jointly with his spouse or HUF. These include a one-kanal house in Sector 10, Chandigarh; approximately 13.5 acres of agricultural land in Golpura, Panchkula; a 300 sq yard plot in Sushant Lok-1, Gurugram; and a house in Greater Kailash-I, New Delhi, where he owns the ground and basement floors, while his spouse owns the first floor. They also jointly own a house in Sector 18-C, Chandigarh.
Additionally, Justice Kant solely owns a 250 sq yard house in DLF-II, Gurugram, and holds a one-third share in 12 acres of ancestral agricultural land and a house in Petwar, Hisar, as well as a one-third share in a house in Urban Estate-II, Hisar, inherited from his father.
His spouse independently owns a 500 sq. yard plot in Eco-City-II, New Chandigarh. His financial assets include 16 FDRs worth approximately Rs 4.11 crore, 15 HUF FDRs worth Rs 1.92 crore, and a GPF of Rs 3.74 crore. His spouse holds six FDRs amounting to Rs 1.96 crore and a PPF of Rs 49.90 lakh. Their two daughters have combined FDRs of about Rs 59.43 lakh and PPFs of Rs 47.57 lakh each. Movable assets include 100 grams of gold and three valuable watches owned by Justice Kant; his spouse holds around 1,000 grams of gold (including streedhan), 6 kg of silver, and owns a Wagon-R car. Each daughter owns approximately 100 grams of gold ornaments. Neither Justice Kant nor his family members have any declared liabilities.
4. Justice Abhay S Oka

Justice Abhay S. Oka jointly owns a 1320 sq ft residential flat in Castle Mill Area, Thane, with his spouse (acquired in April 1999), and individually owns a 460 sq ft premises on Ram Maruti Road, Thane (acquired in November 2020), along with a one-sixth undivided share in agricultural land in Kulgaon, Ambernath, District Thane. His investments include a PPF of Rs 92.36 lakh, fixed deposits of Rs 21.76 lakh, savings of Rs 9.10 lakh, mutual funds worth Rs 8.20 lakh, company shares valued at Rs 4.75 lakh, co-operative bank shares worth Rs 1.02 lakh, and an LIC policy of Rs 1 lakh.
His movable assets comprise 200 grams of gold jewellery and a 2022 Maruti Baleno. His spouse holds a PPF of Rs 8.73 lakh, fixed deposits worth Rs 16.85 lakh, Rs 2.26 lakh in savings, mutual funds of Rs 24,000, co-operative bank shares worth Rs 800, an LIC policy of Rs 1.5 lakh, and 350 grams of gold jewellery. The only liability declared is a car loan of Rs 5.10 lakh in Justice Oka’s name.
5. Justice Vikram Nath

Justice Vikram Nath has declared ownership of a 2 BHK apartment in Noida and an ancestral bungalow in Civil Lines, Allahabad, spread across 2000 sq yards, along with approximately 20 bighas of inherited agricultural land in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. His spouse owns a separate 2 BHK apartment in Civil Lines, Allahabad.
His financial investments amount to approximately Rs 1.5 crore, while his spouse holds investments worth around Rs 3.25 crore. Justice Nath has no movable assets, whereas his spouse possesses 1000 grams of gold, 1500 grams of silver, and a Volkswagen Polo (2016–17 model). Neither of them has any declared liabilities.
