The Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear the petition filed against the repeated release of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. The petition was filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), in which objections were made by the Haryana government to give parole to Ram Rahim continuously.

Court verdict
A bench of Justice BR Gawai and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra said that this petition is focused against only one person instead of widespread public interest, so it will not be considered. The court said, “We are not willing to hear this petition.”
Ram Rahim’s question on repeated parole
Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is serving a 20 -year sentence in the rape of two of his disciples. The SGPC alleged in its petition that the Haryana government is misusing Section 11 of the Good Conduct Principal (Temporary Relations) Act, 2022 and repeatedly giving parole to Ram Rahim and giving him unfair advantage.
Controversy over repeated release
Since 2020, Ram Rahim has been temporarily released from jail 12 times.
- January 2024: 50 days release before Lok Sabha elections
- October 2023: 20 days parole 3 days before Haryana Assembly Election
- July 2023: 30 days release before Haryana Panchayat elections
- August 2023: 21 days temporary release
- Parole was also found 8 days before Delhi assembly elections
SGPC challenged it in the Supreme Court, stating it as an abuse of law, but the court refused to hear it.
