New Delhi: In a divorce case, the Supreme Court has asked the husband to pay Rs 5 crore to the wife as permanent alimony. The Supreme Court heard the divorce case of Praveen Kumar Jain and Anju Jain, who lived together for six years and later separated for 20 years, and awarded Rs 5 crore to Praveen Jain to his wife and Rs 1 crore to his son. Asked to make arrangements worth crores of rupees.

The Supreme Court said that there is no possibility of improving relations between the two. After which we allow the Supreme Court to dissolve this marriage by using the special power given to it.

The Supreme Court ruled that the socio-economic capabilities of the spouses, future prospects of the wife and child, suitability of both parties and means of employment, income and property, whether the wife left her job to take care of the family, etc. It was given considering six points like financial capacity of the husband, cost of court petition for non-working wife etc. Also, the Supreme Court said that permanent alimony is not to punish the husband but for the better life of the wife.
