Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Drinking water is a primary necessity of life but what if it leads to a murder. A routine errand —fetching drinking water from a water tank ended in tragedy when a 23-year-old supervisor of an under construction apartment was killed by a group of labourers who worked under him following a minor dispute over washing hands with drinking water.
The incident occurred around 1:30 pm on Thursday in Dudhiya village under Khudel police station jurisdiction where a building is being constructed under the PM Awas Yojana.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Hussain Khan, a resident of Khajrana, was fatally stabbed by a group of labourers Santosh, his wife Sushma, Pankaj, Ashu and Sawan working under him. The dispute began when Hussain objected to a couple washing their hands and feet with drinking water, saying that the water was meant for drinking purposes only. It is said that initially, the supervisor assaulted two labourers with a wooden stick and to take revenge, they stabbed him to death.
DSP Umakant Chowdhary informed Free Press that Nilgiri Apartment is being constructed under the PM Awas Yojana where Hussain was a supervisor. A dispute arose between a group of people and him over the use of drinking water. The accused broke the glass of a chamber and stabbed Hussain, resulting in his death. The civil engineer of the building Ajay Patel told police that Santosh and his wife Sushma were washing their hands and feet with potable water.
Hussain objected to it and asked them not to spill water, as it is for drinking. They called a group of people and Hussain sought refuge in the site office but the accused broke the glass of the office chamber, dragged him out, and attacked him. Hussain was stabbed during the assault and succumbed to excessive bleeding. The police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of BNS and detained some of them.
