Mumbai : Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the super over at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. Both teams scored 188 runs, due to which the first match of IPL 2025 went to the super over. Chasing a target of 12 runs, Delhi Capitals won the match thanks to Triston Stabs and KL Rahul’s innings and also scored two important points, in which the DC batsman performed brilliantly and won just four balls with 2, 4, 1 and a match winning six in just four balls. Significantly, before this exciting match, the last IPL Super Over was in 2021, when Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 159 runs. In that match too, DC finally won in the super over.

Mitchell Starc’s best economy rate

Delhi Capitals registered their fifth win in IPL 2025. Mitchell Starc was awarded the Man of the Match for saving 9 runs in the last over and scoring only 11 runs in the super over. With this achievement, Stark also became the first bowler to achieve a rare achievement. Mitchell Starc’s economy rate is now the best among the bowlers in the last over of IPL (minimum 100 balls). His economy rate in the 20th over of IPL is 7.98. At least 100 runs in the last overs of IPL matches with an economy rate of less than 8. He is the first bowler to bowl Chedu.
