Former Team India captain MS Dhoni will once again be seen playing in the IPL. Dhoni’s fans always want to see him playing and in season-18, Dhoni is playing as an unaccounted player.

Prior to the mega auction, Chennai Super Kings retained MS Dhoni for Rs 4 crore, but MS Dhoni has not been able to do anything special in this season so far.

Dhoni is leading CSK after Rituraj Gaikwad was out of IPL 2025, but the team is now out of the playoff race. On the other hand, former Indian veteran Sunil Gavaskar has questioned the BCCI’s decision to let Dhoni play in the IPL.

Why was Sunil Gavaskar unhappy with the BCCI’s decision?

Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar that “it is difficult to remember any unkapped player in so many years who have been bought in large amounts and which is appropriate to join the team. The BCCI should turn the decision and change the salary cap of these players to protect the interests of Indian cricket.”

Questions raised on the selection of players in IPL!

Sunil Gavaskar wrote in the column, “10 times out of 10, it is just good luck, old luck, good deeds of grandparents or some omen that makes a unaccounted player in crores. The owners trust their advisors, mostly computer experts who have very little knowledge about sports, but they have data and they think that they get the answer to the players. Comes from the leagues. The scores of these leagues are put in the computer and for that player their dialects become the basis of war.

He further wrote that “Most of them have never seen the player playing or what the opposition is, was it challenging? Was it challenging? Was it competitive? It’s something that would not have a fit in the data at all. How big was the boundary? How was the pitch and how was the weather situation? If there is a former player as a scout, then perhaps his words do not matter as much and anyway, Scouts do not sit on the auction table, right?

Season 18 has been quite poor for CSK.

This season has been very poor for Chennai Super Kings. Leave the matter of the outside world, this team cannot win even at home ground. At the beginning of the tournament, Rituraj Gaikwad was seen captaining CSK, but Dhoni once again took the captaincy after Gaikwad was out.

So far, CSK has played 11 matches, out of which the team has lost 9 matches, while Dhoni’s team has been able to win only 2 matches. Currently, the CSK points are in the last place in the table and is out of the tournament.
