Sunidhi Chauhan, the powerhouse singer, believes that consistency, not extremity, is the key to achieving fitness goals. She is not only a singer but also a multi-faceted personality in the industry. She hosts concerts, sings for movies, directs films and has recently performed a dance item.

In a recent interview with an esteemed publication, the 41-year-old singer shared insights into her fitness journey, shedding light on the routine that keeps her in top shape.

Gearing up for a dance role

Sunidhi’s fitness trainer, Viraj Sarmalkar, revealed that she underwent an intense routine for her recent dance number Aankh, where she performed alongside actor Sanya Malhotra. The song required the two to don “bikini-like attires.” To prepare for the shoot, Sunidhi “shed five kilos in 10 days,” Viraj shared.

Beyond just weight loss, Sunidhi has proven her physical prowess. “She can lift 90 kilos, squat with 70 kilos on her back, and can pull off a few unassisted pull-ups,” Viraj said. Highlighting her stamina, he added, “At one time, she completed a five-kilometre run in 25 minutes.”

Sunidhi shares benefits of intermittent fasting

The singer also revealed that intermittent fasting plays a significant role in her fitness routine. Sunidhi fasts for 16 hours daily, eating all her meals within an 8-hour window. “The motivation to fast was to not only lose weight but also give the intestines rest,” she told Mid-Day.

Her day typically starts with eggs and sometimes a slice of sourdough bread. “Ideally, you must break the fast with protein and fat. They are more important than carbohydrates,” she advised.

Follows a calorie restricted diet

Sunidhi consumes less than 1,200 calories a day as part of her calorie-restricted diet. During the day, she relies on nuts to curb her hunger, which “keep me full for another three hours.” On weight-lifting days, twice or thrice a week, she also includes a protein shake in her diet.

She emphasised the importance of timing her meals, saying, “If I am hungry, I grab a meal. I only crave food at around 5 pm. My last meal is at 7.30 pm.”

Sunidhi Chauhan’s disciplined yet balanced approach is a reminder that sustainable fitness doesn’t require extremes, just dedication and smart choices.
