Divya’s early life and escape from abuse

Divya spent her formative years in Delhi, where she faced physical abuse from her biological father, who had multiple vices and indulged in destructive behavior. Her mother, unable to tolerate the abuse, eventually left her father, and Divya found solace in living with her maternal grandparents. Unfortunately, even there, the atmosphere was far from ideal, as her grandmother was subjected to violence by her grandfather.

Second marriage and continued struggle

When Divya was only three years old, her grandparents arranged for her mother’s second marriage. This decision did not give Divya the happiness and security that Divya had hoped for. Her stepfather, fed up with his own issues, takes out his anger and abuse on Divya, creating a hostile environment in the house. Despite enduring these challenges, Divya remained determined to face every challenge that came her way.

A symbolic event and return to grandparents

There was a nail polish incident with Divya in her childhood where she innocently painted her nails and even got nail polish on her clothes. Upon discovering this, her stepfather reacted violently, damaging her fingernails. It was at this time that Divya’s mother decided to return to her grandparents’ home to escape the abusive environment. However, her stepfather’s harassment continued, as he constantly instigated fights between Divya’s mother and her grandparents.

marriage and abuse by husband

Divya’s marriage, which she hoped would bring happiness, takes a tragic turn. Her husband forced her to watch pornography and developed unorthodox desires. He became obsessed with modernity and developed various fantasies, including involving other men in their relationship. In 2015, she made the courageous decision to break free from her toxic marriage and get a divorce. During this time he also met a person who seemed sensible and trustworthy. However, this person eventually betrays her, due to which Divya has to quit her job as well. Even his mother, turning her back on Divya, termed her characterless.

a wakeup call from her son

One day when Divya was sitting in her room distraught with sadness, her son came in and asked why she was crying. His innocent comment sent shockwaves through her mind, making her realize that her choice would have an impact on her son’s perception of her. Determined to make a better life for her child, Divya resolves to break free from the shackles of her past. Seeking guidance, she connected with a therapist and this proved to be a turning point in her life.
