News India Live, Digital Desk: In the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the services of Executive Director Krishnamurthy Subramaniam for India have been abolished with immediate effect. Subramaniam was serving in the post since November 2022, and his term was to last till November 2025. The central government has decided to abolish his term suddenly, although no clear reason has been made public.
In this regard, the Cabinet Committee (ACC) regarding the appointment headed by PM Narendra Modi has issued an official notice stating that Subramaniam will no longer represent India in the IMF. This decision has come at a time when an important meeting of IMF is going to be held on 9 May 2025. In this meeting, the financial assistance given to Pakistan is to be reviewed and it was to be opposed by India.
Krishnamurthy Subramaniam has previously been the Chief Economic Advisor of India (CEA), and was part of Bandhan Bank’s Board of Directors as well as Bandhan Bank’s Board of Directors.
