Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): MP State Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Surrogacy Board has constituted State Appropriate Authority ART and Surrogacy sub-committee for speedy disposal of surrogacy applications in state.
A meeting of the State ART and Surrogacy Board was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla in Mantralaya on Tuesday. Shukla reviewed the implementation of the Surrogacy Act in the state.
The State ART and Surrogacy Board took decision after due consideration on the surrogacy applications at the state level. Keeping in view the convenience of childless couples and regulatory provisions, the board has constituted a state level sub-committee State Appropriate Authority ART and Surrogacy authorizing it to ensure timely disposal of applications received for surrogacy.
The sub-committee will be able to take appropriate decisions at the state level on granting permission for surrogacy by obtaining the opinion of technical and legal experts as soon as the surrogacy application is received.
The meeting of the said committee will be either held monthly or fortnightly. Dr Randhir Singh, member expert advisor for coming IVF Unit (Test Tube Baby Centres) in Government medical colleges in MP, said, “Our is a state level committee which convenes every four months.
Now a sub-committee has been constituted for speedy disposal of cases at the state level. There is no time frame for holding the meeting as it can be convened monthly or fortnightly.” The meeting of the State ART and Surrogacy Board is held every four months as per the established provisions.
