Every year, undergraduate students studying physics or other fields like engineering and computers are invited to participate in a research experience in the lab of DESY, a national research facility for fundamental science in Germany. The DESY Summer Student Program 2025 will take place from 22nd July to 11th September 2025.
Undergraduate students can apply for the eight-week training program. The research projects fall into a variety of activity categories, including theory, software development, scientific computing, actual detector work, and experimental apparatus.
Training in following program:
-
Photon science
-
Astroparticle physics
-
Elementary particle physics & accelerators
Last Date of Application: 31 January 2025
DESY Summer Student Program 2025:
In addition to working with professionals in their fields, the students will gain first-hand experience in independent research. The research centre will be the main focus of the lectures, which will be geared towards the main subjects of the DESY study. Additionally, there will be tours of the accelerators, experiments, and computer centre. In exchange for working 39 hours a week, summer students will receive free housing in the DESY dormitory. To assist them in meeting their living expenditures, financial support will be provided.
Eligibility criteria:
-
The students had to have studied physics or related subjects full-time for at least three years.
-
Physics students are the target audience for the vast majority of the projects available in the DESY Summer Student Program 2025.
-
Students with a bachelor’s degree in physics, those engaged in a master’s program, and those soon to get their bachelor’s degree are the program’s primary target audience.
-
The program is not open to students who have already attended DESY as summer students or who have earned a Master’s degree or plan to do so by the summer of 2025.
