University Living & Acumen, a member of the Sannam S4 Group, has launched an initiative to aid Indian students studying abroad for higher education. The ‘Living Scholarship’ initiative, valued at INR 2 crore, is designed to ease the economic burden of accommodation costs, enabling students to concentrate on their studies and self-development.

According to University Living’s Indian Student Mobility Report 2024, the spending of Indian students on overseas housing has increased significantly from 2019 to 2022. However, finding the right accommodation is not an easy task. According to the report, there has been a significant rise in the cost of housing in top study destinations like the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK.

Support to students

From March 2025, students who have been accepted at Acumen’s partner universities will be able to claim living scholarships, getting a maximum of one month of accommodation for free. This allows students to get established, meet friends, and get their studies under way in safety and comfort.

Saurabh Arora, CEO of University Living, emphasised, “We believe that financial challenges should not be a barrier to achieving one’s dreams. Through this scholarship with Acumen, we are committed to providing support to students, easing the burden of accommodation expenses.”

Sagar Bahadur, Executive Director – South and Southeast Asia at Acumen, further added, “Living abroad can be intimidating, particularly in the first few months. This scholarship program is meant to facilitate a smooth transition, enabling students to concentrate on their studies.”

The Living Scholarship program will be tested on more than 50 university partners of Acumen and University Living, including a full support mechanism for Indian students seeking higher education abroad.
