Filmmaker Amar Kaushik, known for the blockbuster Stree franchise, engaged in a banter with actress Shraddha Kapoor and apologised to her in front of the media on Monday at the Maddock anniversary bash in Mumbai. This comes amid the massive backlash that he received for likening Shraddha with a ‘chudail’.
In a video that has now gone viral, Shraddha and Amar can be seen posing for the paps together, and that is when the former took a dig at the latter, stating that he has been cracking a lot of jokes of late. “Ye bohot joke maar rahe hain na aajkal…Thoda darati hoon inko,” she quipped, and that is when Amar was seen holding his ear to apologise and laughing.
“Mujhe darr lag raha hai… Mujhe aapke fans se bohot darr lagta hai,” he said, leaving the actress in splits.
Their fun banter only proved that all is well between the superhit actress-director duo.
Amar Kaushik’s ‘chudail’ remark for Shraddha
For those unversed, it all began when during an interview, Amar stated that the idea to cast Shraddha in the Stree franchise was entirely producer Dinesh Vijan’s. “Unhone bola woh jab hasti hai toh ekdum Stree ki tarah, ekdum chudail ki tarah hasti hai. When I met her, the first thing I asked her to do was to laugh,” the director narrated.
This did not go well with fans of Shraddha who blasted the director for his remark. Netizens called the remark “disgusting” and “disrespectful” towards Shraddha, and criticised Amar for his choice of words.
Meanwhile, Stree 3, starring Shraddha and Rajkummar Rao once again, will release in theatres on August 13, 2027, confirmed the makers.
