A shocking incident captured on CCTV has sparked outrage across social media as footage shows a stray cow attacking a woman and her daughter in Balaji Nagar, Korattur area of Chennai.
The video footage reveals the cow initially attempted to attack the child before turning on the mother when she intervened to protect her child. Neighbours quickly rushed to the scene and managed to chase the animal away.
According to Daily Thanthi, the injured woman was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. Following the incident, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials captured the cow and removed it from the area.
The incident has fueled public anger online, with many residents complaining that local authorities have repeatedly failed to address the stray cattle problem despite numerous complaints.
One social media user, tagging both the Greater Chennai Corporation and Tamil Nadu’s Chief Secretary, expressed frustration: “Keep on complaining every day but no action, simply Chennai Corporation sending complaint register messages. In my zone 11, more than 4 cattle in street and road dogs everywhere, specifically early morning and night issue.”
Another resident commented: “Why can’t something be done permanently to get rid of this menace from our streets? Don’t tell me you don’t have the guts to do this? Same with the zillion stray dogs roaming our streets… Cattle and dogs have a place in society but not to roam freely.”
