Famous Bollywood singer Mika Singh recently shared his friendship with actor Salman Khan and his experiences of working with him in an interview. Mika told many interesting stories from his first meeting with Salman to singing songs for him.
1998: Mika’s first meeting with Salman
Mika told that he met Salman Khan for the first time in 1998. At that time Salman was shooting a song from his film ‘Jaanam Samjha Karo’. Mika recalled,
“I was shooting my song at that time and Salman had come to watch my shooting. But at that time I did not have enough sense to talk to her more or take her number.”
This meeting was limited to just a formal introduction, but Mika did not know that he was going to have a deep association with Salman in future.
2010: Salman and Mika met again
In 2010, Mika Singh met Salman Khan again. Mika said,
“Himesh Reshammiya told me that I have to sing a song for the film ‘Bodyguard’. During that time I met Salman in a party. After this our friendship became deeper.”
‘Jumme Ki Raat’ and Mika’s bad voice
Mika also shared the story behind the song ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ for Salman Khan. He said,
“My voice was not good at that time. I told Himesh that I was in no condition to sing, but he insisted on me singing. I recorded the song in a bad voice, and people liked that song very much.”
This song proved to be a big hit in Mika’s career.
Salman’s call at 2 o’clock in the night
Mika narrated another interesting story about his and Salman’s friendship.
“One night, around two o’clock, Salman Khan called me. He made me sing the song ‘Hangover’ and then also made me sing ‘Jumme Ki Raat’. I thought maybe I had made some mistake, because Salman himself was singing my songs.”
Mika later came to know that Salman had asked the music directors to remove his song from Mika’s voice and record it in his voice. However, Salman’s nephew suggested that Mika’s version was better. In the end, only the song sung by Mika was released.
Song lyrics changed on Salman’s request
Mika told that once he changed the lyrics of his song to avoid Salman Khan’s displeasure.
“I write the lyrics of the songs according to the character of the film. At that time I also did the same. But later some lyrics were changed, like ‘Katrina’ was replaced with ‘Jacquelina’.”
The reason behind this change was Salman’s advice, which Mika accepted without any questions.
Unique friendship between Salman and Mika
These stories of friendship between Salman Khan and Mika Singh show that there is not only professional rapport between the two, but also a deep understanding and trust. In the interview, Mika described Salman as not only a great actor but also a true friend.
