Stopped night trains in Pakistan, Balochistan, scared of Baloch Liberation Army attack

The recent train hijack incident in Balochistan has shook Pakistan. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked a train with about 500 passengers and not only questioned Pakistan’s security system, but also created an atmosphere of panic throughout the country. Since then, Pakistan Railway has stopped train operations in Balochistan at night.

Train stopped due to security threat

The Bolan Express going from Karachi to Quetta on Sunday night was stopped at Jackbabad station itself. Railway officials had given clear instructions that the train will not move forward until security clearance is received. Due to this, about 150 passengers had to be removed from the train and they were sent to Quetta from buses and other vehicles.

Aamir Ali Baloch, CEO of Pakistan Railway, said that it would have been very risky to send the train forward at night. If this train would run at the scheduled time, it would have reached Sibi late at night, where there was more danger of Baloch rebels attack.

Anger of passengers, question on government

After this incident, the passengers expressed displeasure and called it a government failure. He says that if security cannot be given, then why are the common people allowing travel. Now the railway administration has planned a change in the time table of Bolan Mail. This train will now leave from Karachi at 3 pm so that there is no night travel in Balochistan. Earlier this train used to leave at 7 pm.

When Zafar Express was targeted

Some time ago the Baloch Liberation Army also hijacked the Zafar Express. Passengers were rescued after the operation that lasted for about 24 hours in that attack, but 10 Punjabi passengers were shot dead by rebels. The incident deepened the spirit of insecurity in Pakistan. Now the railway is not in the mood to take any kind of risk.

Baloch Liberation Army: Demand for freedom and increasing violence

Balochistan is the largest, but lowest population province in Pakistan. The people of this region, full of mineral resources, feel neglected and exploited for a long time. Organizations like Baloch Liberation Army demand independence from Pakistan and attack army, government establishments and foreign investment projects.

Especially the projects related to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have been a major target. These attacks have come up in recent years, causing instability in the entire region to deepen.
