After 4 days of decline, the market regained momentum and Sensex and Nifty closed with gains. Good growth was seen in midcap and smallcap shares. There was also a rise in PSU bank, metal and PSE shares. Energy, Auto, Pharma indices closed on the rise. IT, FMCG shares remained under pressure. Sensex ended 169.62 points or 0.22 per cent higher at 76,499.63.

Sensex ended 169.62 points or 0.22 per cent higher at 76,499.63. Whereas Nifty closed at 23,176.05 with a gain of 90.10 points or 0.39 percent.

If we look at the sectoral front, except IT and FMCG, all the sector indices have closed in the green. BSE Midcap index closed 2.3 per cent higher and Smallcap index closed 1.7 per cent higher.
