 The 22nd edition of the Frames Film Festival organised by the BAMMC Department of SIES Nerul concluded on grand scale on January 10.

The third day of the festival saw the screening of videos received under the music video category followed by the screening of National and International film (NIF) category. Towards the end of the festival, winners for each the category was announced.

The festival this year has received total of 3052 entries across all the categories that included National Short Films, International Short Films, Ad Films, Music videos, Animation Films, Documentaries and National Indi Films.

In continuation with the festival’s standards of roping in experts from the field the grand finale was presided by judges like Astitv Narendra – versatile filmmaker with experience of writing, directing and cinematography, Vishal Biradar also alumni, having nearly a decade’s experience of working with radio jockey and Javed Sanadi a choreographer.

Seven music videos were screened. Mazhalai Thaaye – set the tone with its soulful and emotional depth, while – | Think That – explored introspection and vulnerability. Disease Will Decrease –  stood out with its profound message on marital relationship and Massimo Pericolo – brought an energetic, visually striking experience. Ashima highlighted cultural richness through its heartfelt storytelling, Free Spirit-  celebrated liberation and individuality, and Staroe Kino –  evoked nostalgia for classic cinema

The second half of the day featured the National/International Films (NIF) category, which began at 2:50 pm . Judges Sameer Saral Sharma who is known for movies such as Udta Punjab and Khalibali Records, and Mukul Abhyankar who is a writer, director and producer best known for movies like Mohrey and Missing – evaluated the entries.

The NIF category presented a remarkable collection of Eight films, each bringing a distinctive story to the forefront. The films screened were Qissa– delved into cultural and emotional complexities, offering a gripping narrative. Beyond the Horizon- mesmerized viewers with its breath-taking visuals and profound exploration of human ambition. It challenged traditional storytelling with its abstract approach, while Kuch Ho Gaya -brought humor and relatability through a light-hearted tale. Tu Saath Ho – captured the enduring spirit of companionship, and The Storyteller-  celebrated the magic of weaving tales. As If They Hate Me – shed light on pressing societal issues with raw intensity, whereas Sightless Sin-  provided a haunting reflection on identity and self-perception. Censorshit – boldly critiqued censorship and creative freedom, offering a thought-provoking experience.

Collectively, these films captivated the audience with their diverse themes, innovative storytelling, and artistic excellence.

The winners of the categories were announced, In overall category Anmol Mahla won the best director category, Shabrish Nair won the best actor, Sharon Sibi won the best actress.The International Short Film category was won by The Fuse, National short film category won by Gooler Ke Phool, the documentary category won by the art of giving, animation won by In the shadow of cypress, music video won by Free spirit and lastly national independent film won by Censorshit.

Guests for the award ceremony included the team from upcoming Marathi film Devache Ghar – Myra and Mangesh Desai (Actors), Sanket Mane (Director), Kriti Jaiswal (Producer) and Savita Malpekar (actor) 

Following the award ceremony, the after movie was screened showcasing the behind the scene (BTS) that went into the making of the fest. The third day concluded with official chant of Frames- (Go Frames).
