The Maharashtra government has mandated the recitation of the state’s anthem, Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha, in all schools, including those not affiliated with state boards. This initiative is part of the School Education Department’s 100-day action plan, unveiled on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Along with the anthem, School Education Minister Dadasaheb Bhuse also stressed on the implementation of Marathi as a medium of education in all schools.
Key measures in 100-day plan
State-wise geo-tagging of all schools and anganwadis in the state has been undertaken to ensure effective implementation of NEP 2020. The new SCF introduced in the current academic session will be in the line of NEP 2020. Bhuse also told the media that special steps would be taken by the government to take children out of school, such as those coming from marginalised areas of brick kiln workers and sugarcane laborers who have been taken back into education, according to Times of India.
The state government would use Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to upgrade school infrastructure. Bhuse appealed to the dignitaries and celebrities present to adopt schools and work towards upgrading them. Other initiatives are taking the CBSE pattern, adopting it suitably, ranking of schools in the quality perspective, ensuring one school up to grade 10 at each centre, conversion of one classroom to be a smart classroom, cluster school concept is introduced, which has been opposed earlier by some educationists, will be done with full swing, so recruitment process will also speed up.
Pre-primary registration
Chief Minister Fadnavis spoke about the registration of pre-primary schools and minimum standards for them. He mentioned that there is excellent talent among students in government schools and said that good teachers should be a role model for the students, as reported by TOI. He also added that the bicycle distribution scheme for female students must continue because it has shown an increase in attendance.
