Mumbai-The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed the use of basic calculator for accountancy paper in the class 12 board examination to be held in the academic year 2025-26. Therefore, students will be able to use calculator in accountancy paper in board examination.

According to the CBSE proposal, students will be allowed to use non-programs for multiplication, part, addition, subtraction and percentage calculations. To ensure uniformity in the use of calculator, the board will issue guidelines regarding the calculator model. CBSE has taken this decision in support of the objectives of NEP 2020, emphasizing the development of students’ thinking skills.

The board is trying to reduce the burden on students by allowing the use of calculator. This will facilitate students to give quick response with the help of calculator instead of manual. Using the calculator in an accountancy paper will make the examination process easier for students and students will be able to get direct ideological answers with the help of calculator instead of long calculations. Currently only students with special requirements are allowed to use calculator in the 10th and 12th examinations. While the Indian School Certificate Examination Council has allowed students of class 12 to use calculator from 2021.
