Earlier on Wednesday (December 28), eight people, including a woman, were killed in a stampede during the former chief minister’s roadshow in Nellore district.
Guntur SP Arif Hafeez said three people were killed and several injured during a public meeting organized by TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu in Guntur district. Police said that Chandrababu Naidu had planned to distribute gifts for the upcoming festival of Pongal. TDP leaders arranged a public meeting on Sunday at 2 pm. Naidu left after the meeting was over. However, people rushed to collect the gifts, causing a stampede.
