Madhya Pradesh Political Punch: Stage Collapse Sparks Congress Controversy; BJP Feud, Lavish Weddings & Opposition Silence Make Waves | FP Cartoon
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):
Managed stage!

A demonstration, recently organised by the MP Congress unit in the state capital, hogged the media headlines across the country. Several party workers suffered injuries after the stage – where the demonstration was to be carried out – collapsed. But the people are talking more about the stage collapse and the injured workers than the demonstration. But the most interesting part of the event is that a right winger, who had burnt the effigies of the Congress leaders on many occasions, was asked to set up the stage. He was seen taking part in all the activities organised in the name of Hindutva in the state capital.
After the stage collapse, senior leaders of the Congress began to inquire about the stage-maker. The Congress has already filed a complaint at a police station against him. In the complaint, it has been mentioned that the contractor deliberately made the stage fragile that it should collapse and the Congressmen fall from it. After the incident, the Congressmen have been advised to inquire about the credentials of any contractor before handing over such work as setting up a stage for carrying out any demonstration.
Phool Chhap Congressi
Rahul Gandhi’s remark on BJP agents in the Congress has kicked up a debate in the party. Almost every Congressman has links with BJP leaders. Those who lost Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections have blamed the BJP’s sleeper cell in the party for the defeat. Now, a few leaders in the Congress are ready to complain to the party high command against one another. More interesting is the fact that a former minister, who was ready to join the BJP before the Lok Sabha election called Rahul Gandhi’s statement correct. He also advocated for expulsion of all BJP agents from the party. About this leader and former minister, it is said that he, together with another senior leader of the party, was ready to switch over to the BJP before the Lok Sabha election. But the BJP was not ready admit him into the party. So, his plans fell through. On the other hand, a few leaders of the party are treading cautiously after Rahul Gandhi’s statement. They fear lest they should be accused of being BJP agents.
Power of pound
A former minister of the BJP, now a legislator, is talking about his feelings these days. Denial of a ministerial berth came as a shock to him. Afterwards, the head of the state’s giving him a wide berth has been another kick in the teeth for the legislator. An FIR registered in connection with a scam has put a question mark on his integrity. This is the third shock. The former minister thinks money can fetch everything at his disposal.
After his failure to get out of the noose being tightened on him, the former minister has begun to ramble. He reportedly told his close aides about his intentions to pack up businesses from the state. In the future, he may even leave MP. The legislator has recently told a journalist that he was dancing with Hema Malini at night. The power of the wallet has made the legislator arrogant and wayward. His recent activities indicate it.
Wedding season
It is the wedding season for BJP leaders. Their family members are getting married one after another. People across the country are nattering about the nuptials in the family of a union minister. Two ministers of MP got their two sons married in February. A minister even got his son married to the daughter of an MLA of the party. Similarly, the photographs of the wedding ceremony in a legislator’s family have gone viral. There are reports that the MLA arranged for flights for the VVIPs invited to the function. For the ceremony, the planes were used like taxis. The son of an MP also got married. He took his son to the bride’s residence by a chartered plane. The royal weddings in the family of BJP leaders have begun to show the outcome of their long-time stay in power.
Tension in BJP

There is tension among the BJP leaders in a district. It was also apparent during the budget session of the House. A minister and a legislator have even stopped talking to each other. Other legislators of the party belonging to the district have formed different groups.
As soon as the minister and the legislator saw each other in the House, they turned and walked away. Because of the differences between these two leaders, others are trying to fan the flames between them. A legislator from the district has become very active to add fuel to the fire. The legislator is waiting for the resignation of the minister representing the district and his inclusion in the cabinet. His name is always recommended for a ministerial berth. But because of other senior leaders, his name is struck off the list. The legislator is sparing no effort to get a ministerial berth this time.
Living in glass houses?
The Congress was expected to go at the government hammer and tongs during the budget session over the rip-off in the Transport Department. A former constable and many heavyweights of the department were allegedly involved in it. Nevertheless, just as the session began, the opposition seemed to have gone into torpidity – particularly over the issue. The party legislators carried out only a token protest outside the House.
The opposition’s timidity has hurt a senior leader so much that he decided to interact with the Leader of Opposition in the House over the reasons for keeping mum. The senior member of the party perhaps wants to give him a pep talk. Because only a few days are left for the session to end, it is only just known whether such an interaction will have any impact on the opposition.
The people in the corridors of power natter that a few opposition legislators are involved in one case or the other. This is the reason that they are scared of raising the scam that has hogged the media headlines across the country.
