Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Much to the disappointment of the large number of theatre buffs who reached the Bharat Bhavan on Thursday to watch Sinhala play, Sindhu Kirilli 2 (Veronica Returns) to be staged by a Sri Lankan theatre group, were forced to watch, Punashch Krishna, a play produced by MPSD on the second-day of five-day Bharat Rang Mahotsav-2025.

Written by Rama Yadav, directed by Tikam Joshi, students of MP School of Drama presented 90-minute play showcasing 16 arts of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna answered all those questions of Dwapar era, which often arise in the minds of people and trouble them. Some important aspects related to the life of lord Krishna were also showcased.

Originally, a play written by Athol Fugard and directed by Atanu Sarkar was scheduled to be staged on Thursday. But the show by Red Wings Theatre Group, Sri Lanka, was cancelled at the eleventh hour due to certain reasons.

“We are very disappointed. We came to watch the Sinhala play but when we reached Bharat Bhavan, we came to know that the play had been cancelled,” an audience said, adding, “What is this? How can institutions like NSD make changes at the eleventh hour? This is wrong and unfair.” National School of Drama is organising the world’s largest theatre festival from January 28 to February 16 across 13 cities in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
