The country’s rising squash player, 16-year-old Anhat Singh has won the title of Under-17 British Open Junior Squash Tournament. Top seed Anhat came from a set down to defeat second seed Malika Al Karaksi of Egypt 4-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-5, 11-3 in the final.
Anahat has earlier won titles in Under-11 and Under-15 categories here. Last year itself, Anhat had reached the Under-17 final but lost. In 2022, Anhat became the country’s youngest athlete to participate in the Commonwealth Games. Anhat is a bronze medalist at the Asian Games and Asian Championships. Anhat is currently ranked 82nd in the world. Anhat won the gold medal at the prestigious British Open Squash Tournament for the first time at the Under-11 level in 2019. After this title, Anahat attracted everyone’s attention. Anhat had won the bronze medal in the Asian Junior Championship this year. In the year 2020, he won the silver medal in the British and Malaysia Junior Open Tournament.
