British player Ima Radukanu defeated wild card-holding Japanese Japanese Sayaka Ishi 6-2, 6-1 in 65 minutes to enter the second round of the women’s singles of the Miami Open Tennis tournament.

 

2021 US Open Champion Radukanu will next face the eighth seed Ima Navaro of the US. Sophia Kenin of America defeated Petra Quitova of the Czech Republic, a twice former Grand Slam Champion, 6-4, 7-5. In other matches, Carolina Grassia continued her campaign by defeating Ana Bondar 6–0, 7-6 (7-5), while Elena Gabriella Russia defeated Polina Kudramtova 6–7 (5-7), 6-2 after reaching the second set’s tiebreaker.
