In the beginning of IPL 2025, there are only a few days left. The Health Ministry has taken a big decision before the league.
In a letter to IPL President Arun Dhumal, the League has been directed to ban all types of tobacco and alcohol advertisements inside the stadium and during broadcast. Atul Goyal, director of the Ministry of Health, wrote in the letter that cricketers are role models for the youth of India, so they should not directly or indirectly work in advertisements for alcohol or tobacco related products. Rules banning all types of tobacco and alcohol will be strictly implemented inside the stadium and national television inside and national televisions organizing IPL matches and related matches or programs. Players (including commentators) should not be encouraged to make such announcements. IPL is popular in the country and as a result sponsors are also attracted. Players are ideal for the youth to promote healthy and active lifestyle.
