India’s star athlete Hima Das, who won two gold and one silver medal in the Jakarta Asian Games, has been banned for 16 months for Where About failure (not providing address information for testing). This ban was imposed on him from 22 July 2023. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the National Doping Agency (NADA) had imposed this ban on Hima as part of a mutual settlement agreement in the case.

Otherwise he could have been banned for two years. This ban imposed on Hima ended on 22 November this year. Hima Das was temporarily banned by NADA for the Where About Failure in September last year. NADA team reached her address thrice to collect samples but Hima was not found all the three times. The NADA hearing panel withdrew all charges against Hima and acquitted her. NADA appealed against this. WADA then decided to challenge the case at the Sports Tribunal. Hima said that she is ready for a mutual settlement of the case under Section 10.8.2 of the WADA Code or she wants to fight the case. Hima agreed to a mutual settlement and was later banned for 16 months in November this year.
