America’s Amanda Anisimova defeated the world number five Elina Switolina in the Qatar Open Tennis tournament.

 

Ukraine’s 18-year-old Amanda, continuing her campaign, defeated compatriot Switolina 6-3, 6-3 in an hour-long match. Amanda has won her third win against the top-10 players. Elina Rybacina of Kazakhstan carried forward her campaign by defeating Sorena Christian of Romania 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 after losing the first set, American Jennifer Barti reached another American player after reaching the first set’s tiebreaker Alison Risk was defeated by 7-6 (12-10), 1-6, 7-6 (7-3) and Barbora Strikova of Czech Republic defeated Croatia’s Petra Martic 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 from 6-2 Defeated

Aryana Sabalenka of the world’s second number one Belarus also suffered defeat. Russian player Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Sabalanka 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to upset the biggest upset of the tournament. The match was played for about two and a half hours. Sabalanka is playing at the Qatar Open for the first time since 2022. In other matches, Ega Swiatech defeated Donna Vicich 6-4, 7–5 and Kiki Burtens defeated Carolina Muchova 6–2, 6-4.
