Russia’s 17-year-old Meera Andreeva continued her brilliant performance and won the biggest title of her career by defeating Clara Tosun 7-6, 6-1 in the Dubai Open Tennis tournament.

 

Russian players will join the top-10 players in the world rankings for the first time next week. Andreeva also became the youngest player to win the WTA tour title. Earlier, in 2007, Nicole Vedisova became the youngest player to win the title at the age of 17.

Andreva defeated 2023 Wimbledon Champion Marketa Vondrosova, five -time Grand Slam Champion Poland’s Iga Swiatech and 2022 Wimbledon Champion Elena Rybacina during reaching the final. The final match of Dubai Open lasted for an hour and 46 minutes. The first set, which went to the tiebreaker, was played for about 60 minutes.
