On January 1, 2025, after the monthly revision by Oil Marketing Companies or OMCs, the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) are the fuel that is used in a petroleum-based fuel used to power aircraft that have gas-turbine engines.

ATF Prices Cut

The shares of two of the only listed airlines, IndiGo and SpiceJet reacted to the development in the intraday trade on January 1, 2025.

On the first day of trade of the new year, the shares of the company were trading in green with marginal gains.

When it comes to the reduction in the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel, the companies slashed the prices by Rs 1,401 per kilolitre. This has taken the overall price of ATF down to Rs 90,455.47 per kilolitre in Delhi.

It is to be noted, that ATF does not come under the GST regime; therefore, the prices of this commodity change in accordance to the states or the territory where the airlines refuel.

When we take a closer look at the company shares, the share price of both IndiGo (Interglobe Aviation) and Spicejet stared the day’s trade on a lukewarm note, with marginal gains.

However, as the trading session progressed further, the price of IndiGo shares, which is the largest airline in the country spiked with gains of over 1 per cent.

Interglobe Aviation Ltd

The IndiGo shares that opened at Rs 4,639.95, higher than the previous day’s Rs 4,552.95.

At the time of writing, the shares of IndiGo rose by a major 1.13 per cent or Rs 51.45. The overall value of the company shares rose to Rs 4,604.40 per piece.

Spicejet Ltd

Whe it comes to SpiceJet, the shares of the shares of the company did go in the same direction as IndiGo. SpiceJet shares opened at Rs 55.63, dropped to Rs 55.25 per share.

The shares of SpiceJet recovered thereafter. At the time of writing, the SpiceJet shares experienced a minor gain of 0.072 per cent or Rs 0.040, taking the overall value to Rs 55.44 per piece.
