Dehradun, March 12: In a shocking incident, a speeding Mercedes car caused a tragic accident in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, reportedly killing four people and injuring two others on Wednesday (March 12). The accident happened when the car, coming from Mussoorie towards Dehradun, ran over four labourers and hit a scooter rider.
The incident reportedly occurred near the Sai Temple on Rajpur Road. There are reports that there were around four to five people in the car at the time of the incident. The car had a Chandigarh number plate which was coming from Mussoorie.
Eyewitnesses said that the car was moving at a very high speed when it lost control and hit the pedestrians. The impact was so severe that four people died on the spot, while two others were rushed to the hospital.
Police Investigation Underway
As soon as the police received the information, they reached the accident site, took the bodies for post-mortem, and admitted the injured to the hospital. The police are now checking CCTV footage to trace the car and identify the driver.
Overspeeding Remains a Major Issue
Police stated that reckless driving has become a growing concern in Dehradun. A similar accident last year claimed six lives, yet overspeeding and careless driving continue to cause tragedies.
After this incident, panic spread in the area. The families of the deceased have been informed and the police have assured that the driver will be arrested soon.
