Indore: Speeding Dumper Crushes Elderly Woman To death, Leg Amputated; Son-In-Law Injured |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): An 80-year-old woman was killed and her leg severed in a tragic road accident late Friday night under the Chandan Nagar police station limits. The fatal mishap occurred near Sirpur Lake around 10 pm, when a speeding dumper rammed into the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on with her son-in-law.
The victim, identified as Meraz, wife of Yakub and a resident of Shajapur district, had come to Indore to visit her daughter and son-in-law in Green Park Colony. She had accompanied her son-in-law, Shahrukh, to the market, and the two were returning home when the dumper struck their vehicle from behind.
The impact of the collision was so intense that Meraz’s leg was amputated on the spot. She succumbed to her injuries instantly. Shahrukh suffered injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Passersby rushed to help and used Shahrukh’s mobile phone to inform the family. The dumper driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Police have launched an investigation and are attempting to trace the driver through the registration number of the dumper.
Teenager stole bikes to fulfill GF’s luxurious desires, held
A minor bike lifter was detained by Tukoganj police and three stolen two-wheelers were recovered from his possession, an official said on Saturday. The accused allegedly told cops that he used to steal bikes to fulfill his girlfriend’s luxurious desires.
Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh said, “Acting on a tip-off, they detained a minor boy for stealing bikes and recovered three stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 3 lakh from his possession which were stolen from Vijay Nagar, Tukoganj and Sanyogitaganj areas. The accused allegedly told police that he used to steal bikes to fulfill his girlfriend’s expensive demands.”
The police registered a case against the accused and he is being further interrogated for any other previous criminal activities.
