Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A speeding car lost control, and over six persons were on the busy road in Jabalpur on Friday night. Two persons, including a 65-year-old woman and a man, succumbed to injuries, while the other four are undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Munni Bai (65) and Ravishankar Dubey. While the condition of Avendra Singhm Deepa Shukla, Vaishali Namdev, and Mohit Sharma is said to be critical.
The reckless driver identified as Dr. Sanjay Patel tried to flee; however, he was caught by the locals. He was handed over to the police. It is said he was highly drunk while driving the car.
According to information, the accident happened at SBI Chowk in the Vijaynagar police station area on Friday around 9 pm, when a recklessly driven Kia Sonet car (MP20 ZE 1572) ran brutally over six pedestrians.
Of the six injured, two people, including a 65-year-old MunniBai and Ravishankar Dubey.
The accused driver alighted the car in panic and tried to flee but was caught by the locals. They thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
Police station in-charge, Vijaynagar, Virendra Pawar, confirmed the case and said that the accused has been arrested and he is being questioned.
Drunk doctor hits car after running over six pedestrians
Munni Bai was returning home from her job as usual around 9 pm. She alighted the auto and was walking on the service road when the drunk doctor lost his control on the wheel and rammed into her.
After running over six people, the accused driver even hit another car before finally applying the brakes.
