Mumbai: A soldier on his way to board the Express Train at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) was injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle. The driver fled the scene, and a case has been registered at Azad Maidan Police Station against an unidentified individual. The injured soldier, Ejaz Ahmed Bhat (30), is currently receiving treatment at INS Ashwini Hospital, Colaba.

Ejaz and Danish Fayaz Dar (30), both serving in the Indian Army at Panchgam, Kashmir, were among 44 personnel attending Class 1 upgrading training in Khadki, Pune, from February 3 to March 29. After completing their training, they arrived in Mumbai to travel back to Kashmir via Delhi on the Express Train, scheduled to depart at 4 PM on March 30.

At around 12:30 PM, the duo decided to have lunch and do some shopping near CSMT. While crossing the road near Aram Vada Pav, a speeding car hit Ejaz, causing severe injuries, including a fracture in his right leg. Danish and the car driver rushed him to St. George Hospital, but the driver absconded soon after. Ejaz was later shifted to INS Ashwini Hospital in Colaba for further treatment.

The police have launched a search for the absconding driver, who is suspected to be a professional chauffeur. Azad Maidan Police are actively investigating the case.
