Key Addresses From Today’s Special Briefing By MEA

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has dismissed claims circulating on social media regarding an alleged Indian assault on the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, insisting that such attempts to divide India are destined to fail.

He also refuted allegations about the destruction of Indian airbases in Sirsa and Suratgarh as well as the S-400 air defense system at Adampur, labelling these reports as entirely false.

Misri emphasized that many claims made by Pakistan regarding attacks on critical Indian infrastructure, including power and cyber systems, are also untrue, urging the public not to be misled by the misinformation propagated by Pakistani state agencies.

During a special briefing on Operation Sindoor, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi reiterated the Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to non-escalation, contingent on similar restraint from the Pakistan military.

The Indian government noted multiple Pakistani air intrusions along the Line of Control (LoC) using drones and heavy artillery shelling targeting civilians, leading to some casualties. The Indian Army has responded effectively, causing significant damage to Pakistani military positions.

Moreover, the Indian Armed Forces conducted targeted attacks solely against identified military objectives, including critical infrastructure and weapon storage, following Pakistan’s escalations. The Pakistani military was accused of attacking civilian facilities, such as a medicare center and school premises near various air bases. The Centre reported that, overnight, Pakistan attempted assaults on 26 locations, including Punjab’s air base stations, signaling an ongoing escalation in tensions.
