Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A major error has cropped up in the raids carried out by the Special Police Establishment (SPE) on the residential premises of former constable of the Transport Department Saurabh Sharma. The SPE sleuths have given wrong information to the district court about the cash and the cost of the jewellery found in Sharma’s house. In the order sheet of Sharma’s bail application which was cancelled SPE gave information about the seizures.

According to the order sheet, a sum of Rs 28,50,000, silver worth Rs 21,00,000 and other jewellery worth Rs 5,00,000 were found in his house. In the order sheet, the court mentioned the above amount on the basis of information provided by Lokayukta DSP Virendra Singh. On the other hand, in the press note the SPE issued after the raids mentioned that a sum of Rs 2.87 crore, silver worth 2.10 crore, jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh and luxury items worth Rs 30 lakh were seized during raids.

Clerical error, says Lokayukta DG in court

Director General of Lokayukta SPE Jaideep Prasad said that it was a clerical error. A clerk of the court forgot to pout a zero. A report will be sent to the court on Monday amending the error, Prasad said, adding that the amount mentioned in the press release was correct.
