South Korean President Eun Suk Yeol has been arrested. Earlier, the police had come to arrest Yol, who was facing impeachment, but the arrest could not be made due to the uproar by his supporters. But this time he was arrested after high voltage drama.

Policemen arrived at President Yole’s residence

Hundreds of policemen arrived at President Yola’s residence on Wednesday morning. He stayed here for several weeks with his personal security force. Thus, Yeol is the first President of South Korea to be arrested.

The President has issued a video message saying that the investigation initiated against him is illegal.

According to the report of news agency Yonhap, investigative agencies used a ladder to enter Yole’s house. The police entered Yol’s house using a ladder and arrested him. After his arrest, the President released a video message saying that the investigation initiated against him was illegal. He said that I have decided to appear before the CIO even though it is an illegal investigation. I have taken this decision to avoid bloodshed. However, that doesn’t mean I think this investigation is worthwhile.

Martial law was suddenly imposed in the country on the night of 3 December. A crowd of protesters gathered outside his house and slogans were raised in his support. Yoon’s supporters were trying to prevent his arrest. A court in Seoul issued an arrest warrant against President Eun Suk Yeol.

Yun was impeached on December 14 for imposing martial law.

This is the first time in the country that an arrest warrant has been issued against the President. The Seoul court issued instructions to senior officials of the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO). He was repeatedly called for questioning but never appeared before the police.
