Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A son allegedly killed his father while shielding his mother from domestic violence, a police official said.
As per reports, a man identified as Pran Singh Baghel was found dead on May 1 in Badi Akbai village. Initially reported as a suicide, an investigation by local police led to the shocking conclusion that he was shot and killed by his son, Lavkush Baghel.
According to police reports, Lavkush fired three bullets from a licensed gun that struck his father in the chest. The incident unfolded after Pran Singh returned home intoxicated and allegedly assaulted his wife, Meena Baghel. When Lavkush intervened, a struggle ensued over the gun, and a shot hit Pran Singh. Lavkush then fired two other bullets at his father, who died on the spot.
Police station in-charge Balwinder Dhillon said they believed it was murder, as in a suicide case there would only be one bullet. Lavkush is currently at large, while police have seized the firearm used in the killing.
Class 10 student dies by suicide
A tenth-grade student in Gwalior died by suicide on Wednesday by hanging herself. The incident occurred in Singhpur Road under the Murar police station area. The deceased was identified as Riddhima Gupta. According to sources, she was found hanging when her family returned home in the evening.
According to police, Riddhima was alone at home at the time. The family rushed her to the hospital, but she was declared dead. No suicide note was found. Murar Police Station In-charge Maina Patil said Riddhima had scored 87% in her CBSE exams but had been upset, expecting higher marks. Depression over the results is suspected as the cause.
