Ghaziabad, 28 November (Hindustan Reporter). Crime Branch and Mussoorie police station on Thursday arrested an interstate ganja smuggler with ganja worth Rs 50 lakh from Mussoorie police station area. He was bringing this ganja from Orissa and was to supply it in Delhi NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh. But he was caught by the police. 101 kg 600 grams of ganja and a canter vehicle have been recovered from his possession.
ADCP Sachchidanand said that the Crime Branch Police on Thursday arrested an interstate ganja smuggler who was smuggling ganja from Orissa to Western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR region, on the way from Dasna to Muradnagar. He has been arrested from Mussoorie police station area below the underpass. His name is Surendra who is tenth pass. He is a resident of Mathura.
On interrogation, accused Surendra told that his family condition was very bad. That’s why he used to run his household by working as a driver of a big car. But he did not get much benefit from driving work. While driving a truck, he used to load goods from Delhi, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh and take them to Orissa and West Bengal. Meanwhile, in Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Surendra met a driver who smuggled ganja along with other goods. He told Surendra about ganja smuggling and said that there is a lot of profit in smuggling ganja from Orissa to other states. That driver introduced Surendra to Omveer from Orissa, who used to smuggle ganja from Orissa to different states of the country. Omveer also wanted a person who could smuggle ganja in Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR Haryana and had no previous record. Omveer used to tell the party to which ganja was to be supplied and the place where it had to be supplied to smuggle ganja. Surendra used to get 40 to 50 thousand rupees per quintal for each round of smuggling ganja from Orissa state and delivering it to the concerned party.
The accused also told that when he goes from Orissa in a canter car loaded with ganja, he switches off his phone and does not contact anyone. Until the goods are delivered to their designated destination. He has been doing ganja smuggling work for the last 4-5 years. Surendra never involved anyone else in ganja smuggling nor did he tell anyone he knew about it. The work of smuggling ganja brings m.fold benefits which helps in meeting the household expenses and hobbies. The police took legal action and sent him to jail.
