Indian team’s opening batsman Smriti Mandhana scored a explosive century in the third ODI against Ireland on Wednesday. Mandhana scored a century in just 70 balls, making her the fastest Indian woman player to score a century. With this inning, Mandhana achieved another important achievement, as she became the fourth player to score 10 or more centuries in women’s ODI cricket.

The record for most centuries in women’s ODI cricket is in the name of Australian captain Meg Lanning, who has scored 15 centuries. Suzie Bates is second with 13 centuries, while Tammy Beaumont and Smriti Mandhana both have scored 10 centuries each.

Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant inning of 135 runs in 80 balls in the third ODI against Ireland at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. His innings included 12 fours and seven sixes. Mandhana and Pratika Raval had a record-breaking partnership for the first wicket, in which both added 233 runs. This is the third highest partnership for any wicket for the Indian women’s team.

In 2024, Mandhana has scored 996 runs in 16 innings in ODI cricket at an average of 62.25, which includes four half-centuries and 5 centuries. He has also hit 123 fours and 16 sixes. Mandhana broke the record of fastest century held by Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored a century in 87 balls against South Africa in Bengaluru last year.
