Gorakhpur, 29 November (Hindustan Reporter). A short term course on the subject named Innovative Teaching and Learning was inaugurated today under the aegis of Malviya Mission Teachers Training Center of Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur.
In compliance with the National Education Policy 2020, the Mission continues its efforts for hum.tarian teacher training. Today, under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Poonam Tandon, a very useful training program started under the efficient planning of the Center’s Director Professor Sunita Murmu and the efficient combination of Dr. Vismita Paliwal.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the training programme, the Vice Chancellor said that the coming time is of open education. For many students who are unable to attend regular classes due to various reasons, technology-dependent distance courses are a boon. It also easily accommodates the third gender. A digital university is on the verge of opening soon in our country. Since our university has now come under category one, we can open our courses easily without any external permission. He said that I have full confidence that this program will give our teachers new dimensions for effective teaching. Teachers will have to break away from the traditional framework and acquire technology-dependent teaching skills.
In the inaugural session, the seed statement i.e. note was given by Vitthal C Gole, who is a professor at Madan Mohan Malviya Technical University and is an expert in creating silent courses. Presented his statement on their Quality Guidelines for Self-Learning Materials. He explained about these courses in detail. Along with the guidelines of UGC, he explained the different types of ODL i.e. Open Distance Learning and the nuances of their creation. The tendency to read and learn on one’s own has increased. Instead of sitting in the classroom and studying from the teacher, students now prefer to listen to online lectures. Now the time has come that the teacher will have to expand his role.
Prof. Jitendra Pandey of Uttarakhand Open University was also present in the inaugural session. After the inaugural session, he presented his topic before the participants. Forty professors from universities and colleges are participating in this program. In this six-day long program, experts from Delhi, Uttarakhand, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Almora will provide guidance on various dimensions of open learning. Just before the inaugural session, Dr. Tulika Mishra, Assistant Professor of Botany, gave a presentation in which she highlighted the main points of open learning.
The program started with the lighting of the lamp and the welcome address was given by Prof. Sunita Murmu, Director of the Centre. The program was conducted very lively by the coordinator Dr Vismita Paliwal. At the conclusion of the inaugural session, Prof. Gaurahari Behera delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Vijay Chahal, Prof. Gaur Hari Behera and other teachers of the University were also present in the program.
