Team India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer gifted a pair of shoes to a net bowler Jaskiran Singh at the ICC Academy in Dubai as the Men in Blue gear up to face New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 clash on Sunday. Singh said these spikes matter a lot to him.

Shreyas has established himself in the middle-order for India with some superlative performances in the last two years, especially in the ODI series against England and with the half-century against Pakistan. A handful of experts have also nominated him as the next ODI captain.

Speaking to PTI, Singh stated:

“I am a part of the ICC net bowling team for the Champions Trophy. Today was one such special moment of my life. Received these spikes from Shreyas Iyer. I was fielding at long-off when Shreyas Bhai came up to me and asked, “Paaji kya haal-chaal, sab badiya? What’s your show size? I said 10, and then he said I’ve got something for you and he gave me these spikes and it really means a lot. In this tournament I’ve fielded for them but was waiting for an opportunity to bowl to them.”

Team India to face either South Africa or Australia in the semi-final

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue’s semi-final opponents will either be South Africa or Australia in the knockout game on March 4 in Dubai. However, they will come to know about their opposition only on Sunday, depending upon where they finish off.

India and New Zealand notably met during the ICC Knockout Trophy of 2000 where the latter emerged victorious.
