Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer, who performed brilliantly in the ODI World Cup 2023, is now focusing on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Iyer achieved a new milestone in the World Cup by scoring 530 runs in 11 innings as no other player ranked No. 4 or below has crossed the 500-run mark in this tournament. Ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, he has said that he is ready to bat at any position as he is only part of the ODI team. This is the reason why he has not been selected in the T20 team. He is also expected to get a chance in the three-match ODI series against England.

Shreyas Iyer, who is one of the key players of the Indian ODI team, has batted at various positions in the middle-order and has consistently performed well since his debut in December 2017. However, his competition in the Champions Trophy will be with KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson, who are also keen to play in the middle-order. The team has not been selected yet.

Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, Shreyas Iyer said, “I am flexible and ready to bat anywhere in the batting order.” He also told, “KL Rahul and I played important roles in the middle order during the World Cup. We had a great season together. Only the last part (the final against Australia) was such that we could not execute it as per our wish. If I get a chance to represent the country in the Champions Trophy, it will be a proud moment for me.”

In 62 ODI Internationals so far, Iyer has scored 2421 runs at an average of 47.5, which includes 5 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
