In a tragic incident from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a pet dog took away the life of its owner, leaving locals and animal lovers shocked. On Sunday, an 80-year-old woman was mauled to death by her own German Shepherd in the Vikas Nagar area of the city. The elderly woman, identified as Mohini Devi, had raised the dog as if it were her own child. However, the dog suddenly became aggressive and attacked her, leaving her in a pool of blood.
Devi stayed with her daughter-in-law Kiran and grandson Dheer Prashant Trivedi. When the shocking incident took place, Kiran and Trivedi were sleeping inside the house. The elderly woman had stepped out of the residence after hearing the dog barking out loudly. Worried about its behaviour, she rushed to check if the dog was fine. However, her concern left her in a painful state as the dog pounced at her.
Pet kills 80-year-old owner
Her pet German Shepherd was barking in the courtyard. As Devi came there, the dog shockingly attacked her. The woman lost her life in the fierce attack. She was brutally mauled to death by the pet animal she raised with love and affection.
As the pet dog ran its paws on her and seriously wounded her, she screamed in pain and sorrow. The family first thought that the dog was barking at an outsider, but when they came out after hearing the screams, they saw Mohini Devi lying dead. She reportedly suffered serious injuries on her face, stomach and waist that made the lady succumb to death on the spot.
Registration of pets mandatory
Local authorities were alerted about the case. The police and the municipal corporation were called for assistance. A team arrived to bring the fierce dog into control. The police is investigating the matter as to why the dog suddenly attacked.
According to reports, the local councillor Raj Kishore Yadav has asked the registration of pet dogs should be made mandatory and their owners should be instructed to be cautious.
