The alleged suicide case of Vaishnavi Shashank Hagawane, daughter-in-law of Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar Group) leader Rajendra Hagawane, has sent shockwaves across the state.

Vaishnavi (aged 23) reportedly died by suicide by hanging herself around 4:30 pm on Friday (May 16) at Bhukum in Mulshi tehsil of Pune.

In this case, a complaint of dowry harassment has been registered against her in-laws at the Bavdhan police station. According to the information provided by the police, Vaishnavi was facing both mental and physical harassment from her in-laws. Her family has claimed that she ended her life due to this ongoing harassment.

As per the reports, allegations have been made by Vaishnavi’s family that Rajendra Hagawane had demanded 51 tolas of gold, a Fortuner car, and silver utensils at the time of marriage. They also stated that the groom’s family had insisted that the wedding be conducted at a luxurious venue.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken serious cognizance of the suspected dowry harassment and suspicious death of Vaishnavi Hagawane, daughter-in-law of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Hagawane.
