Canada PR Application News: Canada has decided to focus on clearing the backlog of pending PR applications for parents or grandparents. More than 40 thousand parents and grandparents sponsorship applications are pending

According to Miller’s 2024 annual report on immigration, more than 40,000 parents and grandparents had sponsorship applications pending by the end of 2023. The report also states that the average processing time for these applications is currently 24 months. According to a government spokesperson, this pause will enable the government to effectively manage the backlog while maintaining its commitment to family reunification.
