Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A BJP office-bearer of Vidisha district was booked for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman, the police said on Monday. SDOP Manoj Mishra said the woman filed a complaint at the Natern police station alleging that she was raped by BJP district vice-president Yogendra Singh Solanki several times.
In her complaint, she stated that Solanki is her distant relative and she used to call him ‘Chacha’. In May 2020, when she was alone at home, Solanki came and raped her. After that, whenever he found her alone, he raped her, she alleged. She also claimed that in July this year, they entered a contract that Solanki will give Rs 15 lakh for her marriage.
“But more details of the agreement were not mentioned in the complaint,” the SDOP added. Recently, Solanki repeated the act and she narrated the ordeal to her parents. Her parents approached the police on December 5 and filed a complaint, the SDOP added. On the report, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation. However, no arrest has been made into the case.
Following the FIR, Solanki gave his resignation from the party post and membership. In his resignation, he mentioned that the complaint against him is fake and fabricated.
Meanwhile, state Congress president Jitu Patwari lashed out at the BJP and alleged that rape cases are increasing in the state and several BJP leaders’ name are coming to light.
He added that the police and the BJP were not taking action against the leader. Some 10 days ago, a teacher was raped by a BJP leader in Balaghat and in Jabalpur a BJP leader raped a woman in lieu of giving her job, he alleged.
