Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 23-year-old was stabbed by seven miscreants in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur over old enmity. The incident took place on Thursday in the Badanpur area of the district. Allegedly, the miscreants saw the victim outside of his house, abused him, stabbed him, and then fled the spot.
Family members of the victim realised the attack and rushed to help. They sent the injured to the district hospital for treatment, where his condition is deemed as critical. Family members also informed the police, who launched a manhunt against the accused, eventually apprehending the seven, including a minor.
According to information, the victim, 23-year-old Abhay Rakeshiya, was outside his house talking to friends when the prime accused, Amit Ben, arrived with his associates—Shivam, Vivek, Amit, Pradhan, and Rishabh. The group initially engaged in a verbal altercation with Abhay, which escalated when he tried to stop them. Enraged, the accused attacked him, and Amit Ben stabbed him with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Scared, Abhay’s family members took him to the nearby Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical Hospital for treatment and informed the police about the same. Upon receiving information, the police formed a special team and arrested all seven accused within hours. They have been charged under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections. The accused have been presented in court and sent to jail. To maintain law and order, police have intensified patrolling in the area and are continuing their investigation into the case.
Gang rivalry suspected
According to the prima facie, Abhay himself has a criminal background, with five to six cases registered against him. The attack appears to be a result of ongoing rivalry between both groups. The rivalry can be owed to an old enmity between the two gang leaders.
