Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 17-year-old first-year B.Tech student was found hanging in his hostel room on the IIT campus on Friday evening. The His friends, who met him barely 30 minutes ago, were shocked to see his hanging body after they returned from the mess.
The deceased, identified as Rohit Kumar, was a native resident of Telangana and had moved to Indore for studies.
He was pursuing a B.Tech from IIT Indore. Police sent his body for a postmortem and searched the entire room. A passbook, ID card, and the victim’s phone have been seized. No suicide note was found.
According to information, victim Rohit Kumar was a resident of Telangana. Kumar had moved to Indore to pursue his B.Tech at IIT Indore. He arrived here in July during the orientation program of the university. On Friday night, Kumar and a couple of his friends were sitting in his hostel room. They all planned to go to the mess for dinner, however, Kumar refused, saying he will join them later. To their shock, when the friends returned from the dinner, they found Kumar hanging, using a nylon string to make a noose.
Scared, the students shouted for help and called the hostel warden. The warden then informed the police, who came to the spot with a team of forensic officers. The victim’s body was sent for post mortem. The reason for this extreme step is still under investigation, as no suicide note had been found. Further investigation into the case is underway.
